Remembering Paul Sayther
Our hearts are saddened with the passing of fellow Rotarian and great friend Paul Sayther. He will be remembered for his whit and smile, holding court at the table near the door, and his love of all things tapas. For several years Paul arranged our evenings of fun and fellowship at Ole’ Tapas ensuring each of us had a grand experience with wine, food, and song. Each week as you cross the threshold into our meeting room, look down at the rugs that welcome us to Rotary. They were Paul’s inspiration and handiwork.

Shopping for Needy Children

If you committed to shopping for a child at McVey School, please bring your purchases to the meeting this week. Put them in a plain trash bag and label with the child’s name. If your shopping is not completed, please drop off the items at Robin’s house BEFORE Monday. They will be delivered the the school nurse on Monday for distribution to the parents.

Additionally, we are switching from supporting the needy Downes School families with gift cards to McVey families that correspond to the clothing purchases. $50 gift cards to Walmart are be purchased and presented with their children’s clothing needs, one per family.

Ring the Bell!

Off to a great start of the holiday season, thank you to those who helped support the Salvation Army’s Kettle Drive with Ringing the Bell.

Tornado Help

Our Board immediately acted and approved $1,000 to be sent to the Rotary Club in Mayfield, Kentucky to help with their community.  If you want to make a donation to help those effected by the horrendous tornadoes, you can send a contribution to the Rotary Club of Mayfield (KY). Because their post office was wiped out, send the check to attn: John Carrico, 300 Wexford Court, Paducah, KY 42003.

Other supplies, including water, are also needed. Let me know if you need the address for sending anything.

Next Board Meeting Jan. 13 – 8:15, following regular meeting. Minutes and Financials to be sent out to Board members on previous Wednesday. Everyone is welcome to attend the Board meetings. You will get makeup credit for attendance. If you want to know what’s going on, be there.
