District Grant for 2023-24 – Submitted
Utilizing resources with Mandela Fellows from 2022, we submitted a district grant application to supply menstrual kits to young ladies in Nigeria, with Doris, Evelyn, and Robin leading the project. Doris has already made contact with one Fellow, identified a local Rotary club to assist, and has one physician Rotarian to help with the project. Many young girls are not attending school one week per month because they do not have menstrual supplies.
Rotary Education for FREE!
Take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about Rotary and how it functions. Register for Rotary Leadership Institute and participate in sessions on The Rotary Foundation, leadership, membership, fellowship, and more. Session will be held at Cecil County College on June 3, from 8:30 – 4:00, parts 1, 2, and 3. Register at midatlanticrli.org or go online to DaCdb, look for dDstrict, then Events, look for June 3 and register there. Pay the registration fee and submit your receipt to Marie Holliday for reimbursement. You should follow the parts, taking one level each year.
IMPACT Club
Do you know someone who is service minded but can’t attend our regular Rotary meetings? Give their name and contact info to Paul Keely for an invitation to an informational meeting on IMPACT clubs to be held Thursday, May 18, 5:30 in the lobby. We’re looking for a “younger, active group”.
Annual Installation and Awards Dinner
Our annual dinner is scheduled for Thursday, June 22. The Ray Civatte Community Service Award, Publlc Service Award, and Spirit in Business Award will be presented that night. We are now taking applications for those awards. Ask Robin for an application for either of these awards.
And we need chairs for each award. Not a lot of time, not a heavy amount of work. Chair will accept the applications and then form a small committee to review the applications and make the selection. Bill will chair Spirit in Business award.
Ray Civatte Community Service Award: a non-Rotarian who volunteers in the community in a variety of areas
Public Service Award : a non-Rotarian who works in the public sector, firefighter, EMP, police who has gone above and beyond what his/her role calls for
Spirit in Business Award: a business that focuses on more than just the bottom line, committing to serving the community
Vocational Award: a member of our club who uses his/her skills and resources to benefit the community.
Service Prtoject Chairs Needed
Chairpersons for each of our Service Projects are needed for the year ahead. Getting everyone in place now will allow for better planning, scheduling, and execution of our projects. EVERY member is encourage to chair at least one project or committee. That does not mean you have to do the project by yourself. This gives everyone a chance to solicit help and get all members involved.
Reminder: Invoice payments due upon receipt!
