Same price as last year. Just remember : Payments must be received along with the copy for advertisements in the 2021 Report to the Community. Clothes for Needy Students

In a typical year we would purchase clothes for needy students at McVey School, just before the holidays, with members volunteering to shop for a specific student. This year is anything but typical so…. We will fill the school  nurse’s emergency closet with items that she can then dole out to students in need. This is voluntary! You can choose an item from the list, shop for it yourself, deliver to Tom Minto or Robin, and then we will get everything to the school nurse. Deadline will be March 30.  [If you want to be reimbursed, save your receipt and get to Shawn.]

April Fool’s Day Social Hour!

It’s no joke!!! Join us for a special social hour on April Fool’s Day – April 1. We will have a virtual escape room from 6 – 7:15 p.m. The story: a hacker has frozen our data systems and holds our “company” hostage. We will need teams who compete to solve fun puzzles and save our “company.” We need a minimum of 12 participants. Please RSVP to Mike Luck at mykluck@gmail.com by March 12th so we can make teams and pay for the game.

Welcome Bags to be filled

Thank you, members who offered to purchase items needed to fill 60 Welcome Bags for counselors at Camp Fairlee’s summer camp. The Easter Seals camp in Chestertown, Md., is a special time away from home for youth and young adults who are handicapped or challenged. It is also the only respite for many of their caregivers who look after their loved ones 24/7.  Counselors come from all over the world and often come with very few personal supplies due to airline restrictions. Our Welcome bags help get them through the first days at camp until they can go shopping. For nearly 15 years our club has filled these bags.

Facemasks now on sale!

Facemasks with our club logo are now on sale at our cost of $6 each. Anyone who would like to purchase them, please email Robin with the option of how you want to receive and pay for them. 1) pickup at her house with advanced notice, please, 2) have it mailed to you.   Email Robin at rbroomall@usa.net.

Support the Rotary Foundation with your credit card

It’s easy. You can enroll in Rotary’s program that allows you to make a contribution to The Rotary Foundation through the convenience of your credit card. You choose how much and how often you want your card automatically charged and which of Rotary’s programs you want the money credited to. Advantages: 1)Shawn does not have to bill you each quarter; 2) you are totally in charge of when and how much you want to donate; 3) The Rotary Foundation can immediately begin using your donation to support humanitarian efforts. Go to www.rotary.org, under DONATE you can sign up.

Writer’s Needed

The Report to the Community is an important part of our ability to serve the community. The ad campaign is only one part of the success of the product. Articles and pictures allow the community to see what Rotary is about and what our club does. After 21 years of writing the Report, including everything except the ads, Robin has announced that this will be her last year of writing the Report. Anyone who would like to help with this year’s articles and learn the process in order to take over next year, please let Robin know.

Thought for the Week

My wife asked me to take her to one of those restaurants where they make the food right in front of you. So I took her to Subway……. and that’s how the fight started.
