Next year’s grant application submission…

Did we accomplish anything? You bet!
Our club goals and activities are recorded each year in Rotary Club Central, a site on rotary.org. This enables us to keep track of our progress in membership, giving to The Rotary Foundation, service activities, and communication with the public. So far this year we have met or exceeded all of our goals and accomplished 37 service activities. It was a banner year in spite of the pandemic.
What did we do? wrote cards to shut-ins, gave to Disaster USA, filled about 150 birthday boxes, supported our friends at the Courtyard, paid for meals for hospital workers, gave gift cards for needy neighbors, supported Newark PAL, held World’s Greatest Meal to raise money for polio, picked up trash for Adopt a Highway, packed food at the Food Bank, raised funds through flags For heroes, yard clean up with Lori’s Hands volunteers, supported the Food Bank, supported educational programs at Iron Hill, gave to Newark Area Welfare Fund, supported the Rotary Rose parade, gave to Troop 603, assisted in Salvation Army kettle drive, gave gift cards to Downes School families, gave dictionaries to third graders, held first entrepreneur training class through FACT committee, supported Easter Seals with camperships, completed the 22nd Report to the Community, collected non-perishables for the Food Bank, supported DFRC in program guide, books to students at Gateway Lab School, supported literacy program in Dominican Republic, donated clothes to McVey School nurse for emergency closet, filled Welcome Bags for Camp Fairlee counselors, supported financial education through Junior Achievement, donated to Shoes That Fit for clothes for needy school children, supported cancer research through Relay For Life, acknowledged a community service volunteer as well as public service and Spirit in Business, purchased a Shelter Box tent and kit, and supported our military overseas with phone call cards. We put in approximately 474 volunteer hours (if not more!) and gave from our own pockets more than $10,000 to The Rotary Foundation (exact amount still to be determined).
