Jan. 31 – Meal Packing Event
Our District Grant for this year is about Food Insecurity Globally and Locally. On Saturday, Jan. 31, from about 9 a.m. till noon, we will hold a Rise Againt Hunger Meal Packing Event to be located in Newark Charter High School cafeteria. This is a HUGE event so please put it on your calendar now to attend and help pack 10,000 meals to be distibuted to orphanages or schools in remote villages in third world countries. The event is soooo much fun. Interact and Rotaract students will be there to help. We need about 50 volunteers to make it happen so you can invite your family and friends to attend, too. More info and signup will come out Jan. 8. Note: the regular Jan. 29 meeting will not be held so we can have all hands available for the Saturday Jan. 31 event.
Food Insecurity Locally
As part of our Distict Grant addressing Food Insecurity Locally, we will be purchasing $2400 of canned meat products for the Dream Center to include in their food distribution program. Additionally we will be volunteering to help pack food cartons at a later date. Stay tuned. We will have a report of the work our Food Insecurity committee has been conducting.
Troll Toll News!
We’re excited about our new twist on our traditional fines! For the last six months,  we replaced fines with a monthly raffle, giving everyone a chance to win great prizes just by participating. Each month, there’s a new raffle item up for grabs, and every six months, we’ll draw for an even bigger prize!  At the meetings, you can purchase tickets $2 for 1, $5 for 3 and now $10 for 10.   For those that can’t make it in person,  Call Bob Older at 302-482-2120 x 107 or visit nmrde.org and click the “Make a Payment” link and buy your$5 gets you 3 tickets, $10 gets you 10 tickets online and mark TROLL TOLL in the comment and let Bob Older know you purchased.

December’s raffle: Winner of two employee passes to Longwood Gardens  was Cheryl Ernst.

6 mo. raffle: Winner of Wine Tasting event with Total Wine for 10-20 people was Lynn Robinson.

Looking ahead to January—the raffle item will be a variety of gift cards for the winner to choose from. Join the fun, support our club, and you could be our next winner!

Nominations Now Being Accepted
Our club has always been successful in having a long line of succession of leadership. Some clubs do not have a president elect until right before the new Rotary year begins in July. The Nomination committee (Robin, Shawn, and Don) are now accepting nominations for 2nd. vice president in 2026-27 (becoming club president in July 2029). If you want to be considered, please see Robin for more info.
New Invoicing Process
Watch for your 2nd quarter invoice to come from Clinton via email. Invoices will no longer be handed out nor snail mailed. Please pay promptly via credit card on Strike on nmrde.org or give your check to Robin or Clinton. If you did not receive your invoice earlier in December, please let Clinton know.
