Nov. 14, 2024 The Magic of Rotary!
We’re trying to improve Zoom presentation!
- If you are attending via Zoom, during the mealtime go into the Breakout Room and you will still be able to converse with others on Zoom. When meal is over, come back to the main room.
- If you have a speaker who wants to present a Power Point or other screen, please have the material sent to Bill Sullivan 24 hours ahead of the meeting. He will then have the presentation ready to share

Flags Flew, Heroes Praised
Our Veterans Day Ceremony was a proud moment last Sunday. The sounds of the national anthem resounded over the White Clay Creek Valley. Retired Lt. Gen. Hank McCann left us with inspiring words. Our own Don Newcomb was honored with the 2024 Heroes Scholarship being named for him. The empty Chair of Honor reminded us of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you to Clinton and BJ for chairing this year’s FFH project, to those who sponsored flags, and to the members who physically helped display the 450 flags. We raised $30,000 to support veterans, military, and youth programs.
Thank you, Bloom Energy
Our team showed up with vim and vigor at last Saturday’s Bloom Energy Stars and Strides 5k. It was a beautiful but crisp morning with hundreds of runners/walkers and family members there to support our veterans. Ty Jones, on behalf of Bloom, presented our club with a check for $5,000 to continue our work in the community. On behalf of our club, Bill Sullivan accepted a signed game ball from Ty at the afternoon UD football game. Many thanks to Bloom Energy for being a great partner and supporter of the Newark community.
We answered the call!
Thank you to everyone who donated an item, bid on items, and brought someone else to the World’s Greatest Meal last week. We raised $3,324 toward the eradication of Polio. The Silent Auction winnings totaled $2,217. The fines, happy dollars, and extra donations helped put us over the top of our goal of $3,000. Special thanks to Laurie Williams and Cindi Vivano for their leadership and coordination.
Holiday work coming
It’s not the holidays without our ringing the bell for the Salvation Army Kettle Drive. John Hornor will have a signup sheet for hour-long shifts between 5 and 8 p.m. at Boscov’s on Dec. 2, 11, and 12. Get your Santa hat out!
URGENT Sign up for Rotary Direct NOW
