Holiday work in progress
It’s not the holidays without our ringing the bell for the Salvation Army Kettle Drive. The first shift was Monday, Dec. 2 with Jim and Robin Broomall, Laura DelPercio, and Don Newcomb. Second and third shifts are this week on Wednesday and Thursday. Thank you, John Hornor, for coordinating with Salvation Army and for all who proudly rang the bell. It’s a warm feeling to see those who drop coins and bills into the kettle to help people they will never meet.
Volunteers are needed to help Wreaths Across America on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 8:30 a.m. At the Military cemetery off Rt. 896 in Bear. Ceremony will take place at 10:30 but much help is needed to do the actual work of laying the wreaths. See Lynn Mey if you can help.
The Boys and Girls Club at Rosehill will hold their holiday party for nearly 100 kids. It will be a very happy time for the kids receiving lots of gifts, clothes, and party time. You answered the call to help make this a special year for them. Members matched the $1000 challenge from our Board with personal contributions of $1,550 and contributed $961 through the Silent Auction on Dec. 5. All total we will contribute $3,511 to Boys and Girls Club for Rosehill. Watch for a special “Christmas in July” in 2025 to raise funds to support Rosehill. Happy Happy Holidays!
Holiday Reception
It was fun filled evening with great food (thank you, Courtyard staff!), lots of fun (with a White Elephant gift exchange), silent auction (raising an additional $961 for Boys and Girls Club at Rosehill), and more than 30 toys donated for the Marines Toys For Tots. What a great start to the holiday season.
Highway Cleaner
Thank you, Dan Seador, for arranging the Highway Cleanup on Saturday, Nov. 23. Bags of trash belong in the dumpster – not strewn along the most historic roadway in Delaware!
Did you know?
Every year since 1980 there is a Rotary sponsored float in the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California, with individual clubs supporting by contributing at least one dollar per member. The theme of this year’s float is “On the road with Rotary”. Started by the Rotary clubs in Pasadena, there is now an official Rotary Rose Parade Float Committee. Be sure to watch the parade on January 1 for our float of old pickup truck decorated with flowers and Rotary symbols. Visit www.rotaryfloat.org for pictures and more information.

Beginning in the new Rotary year, all NMRC members are asked to make their Rotary Foundation contributions directly to TRF via Rotary Direct. Instructions will be provided. After June, contributions will no longer be invoiced by our treasurer. This will get your money to TRF faster, get your tax recognition faster, enable you to manage your contributions, and free up the responsibility from our treasurer.
