Have you called your BUDDY this week? Even those on Leave of Absence could use a call to stay in touch.
Flags For Heroes 2022 – Last chance to line up your Sponsors
In our first year 2018 we cleared $2,000 with about 150 flags flying, in 2019 we cleared $6,000. In 2021 we grew to 500 flags flying and had $20,000 in sponsorships. Yes, we had extra costs last year due to the purchase of about 350 additional flags. Now that we have the flags and will have little in expenses, our goal is $25,000 PROFIT. Proceeds will be going to veterans’ organizations. Visit our website www.nmrde.org for an inspiring video and info on sponsoring flags. We can’t do this alone, so ask friends and businesses to sponsor, too.
Schedule:
Saturday, Oct. 29 Set up flags beginning at 9 a.m.
Sunday, Nov. 13, Ceremony at 11 a.m.
Saturday, Nov. 19, Take down flags
World’s Greatest Meal – Our PolioPlus Fundraiser THIS WEEK
This week is our annual morning meeting to support the Rotary International PolioPlus program. We will have the usual breakfast but with a slight change. All money raised that day (fines, happy dollars, 50/50) will go toward polio eradication. A Silent Auction will be held with items donated by our members being bid upon. It will NOT be held online this year so you have no idea what bargains will be displayed. This is a chance for you to donate an item and well as bid on items. (Remember only 59 days after that until Christmas!) All money you donate that day will be credited toward you for a Rotary International donation. Please email Robin with your donation item(s).
Here are suggestions: gift basket, a corporate donation certificate, personally hand crafted items, home-brewed beer, holiday decorated cookies, new jewelry, paintings or prints. Be creative: offer yourself for a service (cook a dinner, do gardening or yard work, wash some one’s car, etc.) Evelyn cleaned out her closet full of NEW “gifts” that she had received, The Courtyard is donating a dinner event value of $100, Paul’s got cookies and beverage, and other items are a surprise until Thursday morning.
Helping our Neighbors
Last week former Rotarians Stu Sherman and Dave Bonk asked if we were able to help sponsor the holiday gift giving and party for 150 kids at the Roseville Boys and Girls Club in New Castle. We will discuss at today’s meeting. If you personally or your business would like to sponsor any children or help with holiday shopping, let Robin know and I will get their contact info to you.
