Last Chance to attend “A night out with Dinner & Theatre”:
Lynn Mey and Amanda McGinty are coordinating a night at Rep Theater and dinner prior for Thursday, Nov. 16. Lynn is coordinating a dinner location and then Amanda will secure our tickets.

Flags For Heroes underway

We are over $26,000 in sponsorships.  Please plan on attending the ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. at the reservoir location. Our own Rotarian veterans will be honored and a very special announcement will be made.

Honoring our own

Words can not express our graditude to the many veterans who have sacrificed in so many ways for the values, freedom, and security of our country. We are so honored to have the following veterans in our Rotary club. Give each of them a salute for their service:

Dave Bonk, US Army; Robert Cronin, U. S. Army; Steve Fangman, U.S. Air Force; Evelyn Hayes, U. S. Army Reserve; Jerry Holt, U.S. Air Force; Greg Stephens, U. S. National Guard; prospective member Benjamin Palumbo, U.S. Marine Corps and Air Force. Our former member Steve Worden, U.S. Merchant Marines, is now a missionary in the Phillipines. Our recently departed member Paul Sayther served in the U.S. Coast Guard.

Last Chance to Register for 5K

Please join our club’s team as we walk/run in the Stars and Strides 5K at Bloom Energy on the STAR campus. Team name is Newark Morning Rotary, password is Rotary. Arrive by 8:30 a.m. to check in and receive your tee shirt and get our group picture taken. You do not have to be an experienced runner to join us. Most of us will be slow walkers but we are there to support the Bloom employees in their fundraising. Proceeds will benefit veteran’s organizations.

Tax-free distribution to The Rotary Foundation
If you are age 70 1/2  or older, for the first time IRA owners can make a tax-free distribution (between $10,000 and $50,000) direct from an IRA to a charitable gift annuity with Rotary. For more infomation, email Josh.Olewiler@rotary.org.
Grant Under Way
Our grant project to make and distribute hygience kits to schoolgirls in Nigeria is well under way. The second distribution was made last week. Thank you Doris for spearheading this project.
100% High Engagement
Every member has the chance to get 100% attendance recognition this year. Every time you attend a committee meeting, work on a service project, attend a Board meeting, or attend another club’s meeting, please let Secretary BJ know and she will give you credit. Now if family members and guests work on any club endorsed project or event with you, YOU will receive an extra point for High Engagement!
Ring the Bell for the Salvation Army
For a fun (and maybe chilly) evening, sign up with Marie Holliday for a one-hour shift on Nov. 27, 28, or 29 to ring the bell in the Salvation Army’s annual Kettle Drive. We stand at the entrance to Boscov’s in Christiana Towne Square.
