Here’s the last push to reach our goal of $30,000 in sponsorships. If you have any connections – or want to be a sponsor yourself, this is your last chance. See Cindi.
Help will be needed Saturday after the 5K at Bloom Energy to put up sponsor signs and medallions on the flags at the Reservoir. See Cindi and Paul for instructions. Many hands are needed.
OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE
1. Dictionary distribution
The last schools are scheduled for their free dictionaries to third graders. If you can help on WEDNESDAY, NOV. 5 at MCVEY ELEMENTARY, 8:35 a.m., please let Robin know. Only 3 classrooms so it will not take long. Lynn Mey and Stewart Lee will distibute to Christ the Teacher on Nov. 13.
2. Flags come down
Saturday, Nov. 15, from 9-? Sign up with Robin so we know how many are coming. We will have student help from UD’s Rotaract.
3. Stars and Strides 5K
Saturday, Nov. 8, 8-11 ish, Bloom Energy’s 5K at STAR campus. You don’t need to run, most of us walk. Register for our team to support Bloom’s community service to support veterans.
4. Attach medallions
Saturday, Nov. 8, 11 – noon ish, Many hands are needed to help attach the medallions to the flags and put up sponsor signs.
5. Attend the Heroes ceremony
Sunday, Nov. 9, 11 a.m. at the Reservoir. Attend our ceremony and lend a hand to those veterans and older attendees who need help walking on the grass to see their sponsored flags. Shawn will also need help with unloading and loading chairs.
6. World’s Greatest Meal to support Polio Plus
Thursday, Nov. 20 during our usual meeting time. It’s Christmas in November instead of October!!! No, our calendar is not weird. We will hold a silent auction to raise funds to support the Rotary Foundation’s Polio Plus program. Typically held in October, we will shift to November giving everyone an opportunity to do early Christmas shopping. All funds that day will support the Polio Plus program. More details to come.
7. Ring the Bell for Salvation Army
Tuesday, Wednesday, andThursday, Dec. 9, 10, and 11,one hour shifts from 5-6, 6-7, 7-8 p.m. It’s the official Christmas sound – the ringing of the bell in front of Boscov’s Department Store, off Rt. 273. A signup sheet will be circulated this week. Or contact John Hornor to reserve your shift. Two volunteers are needed for each shift so invite a family member or friend to share your one-hour shift.
