Holiday Reception Dec. 3
A sign up will be circulated tomorrow for the Dec. 3 holiday reception at Timothy’s. Spouses, partners, and potential members are invited, too. Cost will be invoiced at $25. Your “ticket” is a new unwrapped toy to go to Marines Toys For Tots.
We also have a White Elephant gift exchange. Totally voluntary, you bring a wrapped gift (about $15 value) and you will get to pick another gift to take home (with lots of laughs, of course).
Flag For Heroes –
DONE! Packed away at Bayshore Moving for another year. Many thanks to everyone who helped make this another successful year, raising $30,000 to help our veterans, first responders, and youth programs. From businesses and members who were sponsors to those who did hands-on work putting up and taking down flags, helping to find holes, and repairing wind damaged flags, everyone’s help was gratefully appreciated. Student help included Newark Charter H. S. and Delaware Military Academy students and new Rotaract members. We could not have accomplished so much without their help. A HUGE thank you to Chairman Clinton Tymes. He skipped town for a cruise but had everything under control before leaving. We barely missed him (just kidding!!!)
OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE
1. Support PolioPlus – LAST CHANCE!
We’re flexible! Instead of a silent auction fundraiser to raise funds for the World’s Greatest Meal, the Board voted to ask each member to make a voluntary contribution to The Rotary Foundation’s PolioPlus program. Please make your commitment by Nov. 20 so funds can be sent to The Foundation. The District will match up to $50,000 from our 40 clubs to support the vaccination program. A commitment form will be sent around this week and next. If you are not attending either meeting, please let Robin know how much you will contribute. Marie and Clinton will issue special invoices.
2. Toys For Tots
Our annual Holiday Reception will be Dec. 3 at Timothy’s. Your “ticket” to the dinner will be a new unwrapped toy that will be delivered to the Marines Toys For Tots center.
3. Ring the Bell for Salvation Army
Only one spot left on Thursday, Dec. 11 from 7-8 p.m. It’s the official Christmas sound – the ringing of the bell in front of Boscov’s Department Store, off Rt. 273. Contact John Hornor to fill the remaining spot.

It’s the end of the month! Get your ticket for the November drawing of a portable electric steam iron. Bob has a special gift each month. Stewart Lee won the dash cam last month!
Nominations Now Being Accepted
Our club has always been successful in having a long line of succession of leadership. Some clubs do not have a president elect until right before the new Rotary year begins in July. The Nomination committee (Robin, Shawn, and Don) are now accepting nominations for 2nd. vice president in 2026-27 (becoming club president in July 2029). If you want to be considered, please see Robin for more info.
