Flag For Heroes – 
Only a few days left to view the 500 flags flying majestically at the Newark Reservoir Park. More than $30,000 was raised this year which will be disbursed in January/February to upport veteran’s organizations, first responders, and youth. This year’s winds were brutal on the flags and poles but thanks to a few dedicated members, we were able to keep them repaired and looking respectiful. Many thanks to Clinton Tymes for his committee leadership and to everyone who helped in one way or another.
The 2025 Heroes Scholarship was announced in memory of Ryan McGinty, husband of Rotarian Amanda, who passed away in August. Because Ryan was a lover of the national parks, the recipient will be someone enrolled in environmental sciences.
A visitor to the reservoir this week, a veteran himself with camera in hand, was heard to remark that he was taking as many pictures of our flags to send to his buddy veterans, “This is the most remarkable display I have ever seen.”
OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE
1. Flags come down
Saturday, Nov. 15, from 9-? Sign up with Robin so we know how many are coming. We will have student help from UD’s Rotaract.
2. Support PolioPlus
We’re flexible! Instead of a silent auction fundraiser to raise funds for the World’s Greatest Meal, the Board voted to ask each member to make a voluntary contribution to The Rotary Foundation’s PolioPlus program. Please make your commitment by Nov. 20 so funds can be sent to The Foundation. The District will match up to $50,000 from our 40 clubs to support the vaccination program. A commitment form will be sent around this week and next. If you are not attending either meeting, please let Robin know how much you will contribute. Marie and Clinton will issue special invoices.
3.  Toys For Tots
Our annual Holiday Reception will be Dec. 3 at Timothy’s. Your “ticket” to the dinner will be a new unwrapped toy that will be delivered to the Marines Toys For Tots center.
4. Ring the Bell for Salvation Army
Tuesday, Wednesday, andThursday, Dec. 9, 10, and 11,one hour shifts from 5-6, 6-7, 7-8 p.m. It’s the official Christmas sound – the ringing of the bell in front of Boscov’s Department Store, off Rt. 273. A signup sheet will be circulated this week. Or contact John Hornor to reserve your shift. Two volunteers are needed for each shift so invite a family member or friend to share your one-hour shift.

Only 2 weeks left in the month to get your ticket for the November drawing of a portable electric steam iron. Bob has a special gift each month. Stewart Lee won the dash cam last month!
