Revised Buddy List to come shortly. Watch for the updated Roster list, too.
Happy New Year!
The holidays are now behind us but the impact we made in December in several areas will be felt for a while longer. We rang the bell for the Salvation Army’s Kettle Drive helping to raise funds that will provide housing and food for the needy, supported the Newark Area Welfare Committee’s holiday food program that gave boxes of food to more than 500 families, and made the holidays a little bit happier for more than 20 children in an impoverished neighborhood. New toys were donated to the Marines Toys For Tots program. Thank you to all members for your participation.
Boys and Girls Surprised!
At an earlier meeting Rotarians Stu Sherman and Dave Bonk asked if we were able to help sponsor the holiday gift giving and party for 150 kids at the Roseville Boys and Girls Club in New Castle. With a pledge of club funds and additional personal member support, our total of $2,600 made about 20 youngsters at the Boys and Girls Club very happy. Robin and Clinton were on hand at the Dec. 21 holiday party to present a “big check” that paid for their gifts, including clothes and toys. Thank you to everyone who participated.
Wishing former members success in their new Rotary venture
Over the past six months, several members and former members of our club worked to form a new Rotary club in Newark. The club, to be named Newark STAR Rotary Club, formally submitted their application to the District Governor in December with 21 names on their application.  The DG signed their application and submitted to RI for approval of charter. We wish them well in their endeavor to serve the community in the spirit of Rotary.
Members resigned
The following members have formally resigned from our club and will transfer to the Newark STAR club: Kelly Bachman, Nancy Chase, Jason Lawhorn, Michael Luck, Leanne Moore, Joyce Henderson, Anthony Santoro, Polly Sierer (resigned in June), and Margie Masino (resigned in July). Christina Macmillan also resigned due to work relocation to Kennett Square. Her business will become a corporate member of the club at Longwood Gardens.
