Perfect Attendance? Easy peasy…
Did you know Rotary asks us to attend 100% of our club meetings – or makeupthose we cannot attend? Makeups are so simple.
Here are some suggested ways to get credit for missed meetings:
*attend another club meeting (and bring makeup slip back to give to secretary
Doug)
*attend a club committee meeting
*attend a district Rotary event
*go to Rotary Leadership Institute (see bulletin for details)
*attend a club Board meeting (8:15 on last Thursday of the month)
*work on a club project (i.e. highway cleanup, volunteer at Food Bank, etc.)
*volunteer at Project CURE on Feb. 29 (see bulletin for registering)
*be a reader at Newark Day Nursery (register with Read Aloud Delaware first)
*attend dinner at Ole’ Tapas (info to come soon)
*come to a Rotary club happy hour
Rotary International rules for 100% attendance are easier than ever now. Anycredit you get can apply to ANY missed meeting during the entire Rotary year.
No excuse for not having 100% attendance. If you are an event or project or committee chair, please let Sec. Doug know which members attended so they can get credit.
As an incentive, our Membership Committee will begin recognizing members who have perfect attendance EACH QUARTER with a special breakfast. Don’t miss out…..
Advance Your Rotary Knowledge
Rotary Leadership Institute is a program designed to help you more thoroughly appreciate what this organization is about and how you fit into it. An all-day session is held at Maple Dale Country Club in Dover on Saturday, April 4. If you are interested in attending level 1, 2, or 3, please go to www.rli33.org and register for that session. The registration fee is $95 – HOWEVER – for you it is Zero!!! Just pay the $95 registration fee when registering, then give your receipt to treasurer Shawn for full reimbursement. Our club understands the value of RLI participation and will pay your fee. So, get a full day of breakfast and lunch, education, fun and fellowship at no cost to you except for your time.
Report To Community 2020 Campaign in Full Swing!
Don’t delay! Get swingin’ on your ad sales for the 2020 Report. Sales Manager Kelly Bachman distributed ad sheets, sample letters, and lists of potential advertisers. Deadline for reserving ad space is Feb. 27. Deadline for getting all ad copy and payment submitted is March 12. Easiest way to get started is to do your own company ad. Remember – all profits go directly to line 540 in our budget for 2020-2021 – Community Service. Not one penny goes to administration or our member activities. When emailing Kelly with an ad, please put Business Name and Ad Size in the subject line. Email Kelly at kmbachman22@gmail.com or phone 299-9791.
Can you READ?
The Newark Children’s Day Nursery, located only a mile from the Courtyard on Barksdale Road, is in need of readers to the children. Easy — go to Read Aloud Delaware, signup as a reader, designate Newark Day Nursery as your preferred location. Then you can make arrangements that suit your schedule. There is no charge for the background checks but you must have the form fpr fingerprinting. President Evelyn or Tom Minto has the forms.
Can you Sort?
On Saturday, Feb. 29, from 9 a.m. to noon, Evelyn Hayes, Michaek Luch and Robin Broomall worked with about 15 other Rotarians from Southern Pa. clubs to sort and pack donated medical supplies at Project C.U.R.E. in West Grove, Pa. In less than 3 hours we packed 40 Kits for Kids, including bandaids, gauze, safety pins, comb, toothbrushes, tissues, nail clippers, tweezers and scissors. We also sorted and packed sterile bandages, surgical drapes, and other needed supplies. In all we packed the equivalent of $4000 worth of supplies, filling two pallets. The most recent shipment from the West Grove center went to China via air for the coronavirus outbreak. The next container leaving West Grove will be headed to Nigeria this week. What a great place and mission..
Outstanding invoice?
Do not let your quarterly invoice go unpaid. Either get a check to treasurer Shawn or go to www.NMRDE.org and pay via credit card.
If you want to have your contribution made directly to The Rotary Foundation by credit card (weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annually) and not have it included on your quarterly club invoice, go to www.rotarydirect.org to sign up. Easy…..
