HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! We are 27 years old on Wednesday, February 18.
It was 28 years ago that the subject of a new Rotary club was presented to the Newark Club. It was not received well as the “old guard” resisted the idea that there was room for another service organization in Newark. It took another year of persistence but eventually they relented and agreed to be our Morning club’s sponsor. We proved the nay-sayers wrong!

WE STUFFED THAT TRUCK!
We showed that Rotary Has Heart by stuffing Dan’s truck bed, back seat and passenger seat with non-perishables  and personal care items that went directly to First Presbyterian Church’s food pantry. Here’s their response!

On behalf of the Food for Success pantry at First Presbyterian Church, Newark, I want to express my gratitude to you and the Morning Rotary for the bags of food and supplies that were delivered to us last Thursday morning.  We were overwhelmed by the sheer number of bags of food and supplies and the generosity!

We started distributing some of the food last Friday when the pantry was open.  Your donation offers us some diverse products that we do not receive from the Food Bank of Delaware or the USDA, and it is exciting for our clients when they can add “new” products to their shopping bags.

Please share our immense gratitude with the Rotary members and let them know we appreciate their help in addressing food insecurity in our Newark community.

Sincerely,

Francis Kwansa

Congratulations to newest Major Donors
Congratulations to our newest members who achieved the status of Major Donor to The Rotary Foundation. Marie Holliday, Laurie Williams, Paul and Eileen Keely, and Fred Dawson. This level indicates at least $10,000 in donations to TRF over time. Other Major Donors include Robin and Jim Broomall, John Hornor, Tim Boulden, and Evelyn Hayes.
Discover Rotaract
The UD Rotaract members will hold their first Discover Rotaract meeting at the ELI Hub on March 5, 6 p.m. Spread the word! The original 6 members will also be pinned that evening.  They are planning their first service projects and will share them in our bulletin. Stay tuned.
Report Deadline
March 12 is the deadline for reserving ad space in the 2026 Report to the Community. With a goal of $45,000, we need some new advertisers. Check your “rolodex”, hit the phones, and find at least one new advertiser. All forms and info are online at nmrde.org.  FYI, the back inside page is still available!
Bio for Report
All members: our bios in the 2026 Report to the Community will be updated to be uniform length and font to fit our 1/8 page spots. Robin will email each of you with a sample. Please respond quickly. Also, if you did not get an updated photo taken, let her know or submit a jpg to her.
Nominations Now Being Accepted
Our club has always been successful in having a long line of succession of leadership. Some clubs do not have a president elect until right before the new Rotary year begins in July. The Nomination committee (Robin, Shawn, and Don) are now accepting nominations for 2nd. vice president in 2026-27 (becoming club president in July 2029). If you want to be considered, please see Robin for more info.
