Marines Toys For Tots
Many thanks for those who donated a new toy for the Toys For Tots program. More than 30 items were dropped off on Dec. 4 at the Newark Police Department collection center. Since 1947, Toys For Tots has distributed 708 million toys to 314 million children. Our little contribution might seem insignificant, but that’s 30 more children who will be happy to receive a new toy this year. If you didn’t have a chance to participate, you can still drop off a new unwrapped toy in the lobby of Newark Police Department, deadline Dec. 12, or visit toysfortots.org to make a monetary donation.
First Half Summary
The first six months of the Rotary year under President Jamie is coming to a close and we have been busy with Service and Fellowship opportunities:
Hosting 25 Mandela Fellows for dinner; tailgating with Rotary friends; dedicating Chair of Honor; serving at Community Day; holding Christmas in September (Boys and Girls Club $2,883 ); hosting Food Insecurity discussions; volunteering at the Food Bank; cleaning roadway for Highway Cleanup; raising more than $30,950 for Flags For Heroes; supporting PolioPlus program ($2,180); running/walking in Bloom Energy’s Stars and Strides 5k;distibuting more than 800 dictionaries to third graders; filled 100 Birthday Boxes; formed a new Rotaract club at UD; supported Relay For Life; donated 30 new Toys For Tots; rang the bell for the Salvation Army; Saturday, Dec. 13 is laying of Wreaths Across America at the Bear Veterans’ Cemetery.A GREAT SIX MONTHS!

We’re excited about our new twist on our traditional fines! For the last six months,  we replaced fines with a monthly raffle, giving everyone a chance to win great prizes just by participating. Each month, there’s a new raffle item up for grabs, and every six months, we’ll draw for an even bigger prize!  At the meetings, you can purchase tickets $2 for 1, $5 for 3 and now $10 for 10.   For those that can’t make it in person,  Call Bob Older at 302-482-2120 x 107 or visit nmrde.org and click the “Make a Payment” link and buy your$5 gets you 3 tickets, $10 gets you 10 tickets online and mark TROLL TOLL in the comment and let Bob Older know you purchased.

December’s raffle: Win two employee passes to Longwood Gardens (valid almost anytime, not timed tickets). Plus, we’ll also draw one winner for a Wine Tasting event with Total Wine for 10-20 people!

Looking ahead to January—the raffle item will be a variety of gift cards for the winner to choose from. Join the fun, support our club, and you could be our next winner!

Nominations Now Being Accepted
Our club has always been successful in having a long line of succession of leadership. Some clubs do not have a president elect until right before the new Rotary year begins in July. The Nomination committee (Robin, Shawn, and Don) are now accepting nominations for 2nd. vice president in 2026-27 (becoming club president in July 2029). If you want to be considered, please see Robin for more info.
