Fun/Fund Raiser SEND YOUR PICTURE NOW
As part of Sgt At Arms Laurie Williams theme of Fellowship for the year, we will have a fun/fund raiser on Aug. 24 at the club picnic. Here’s the deal:
- Right now take a selfie or have someone else take your picture reading Rotary Magazine in a most unusual place.
- Send your pic to Robin at rbroomall@usa.net for printing.
- Pics will be displayed at the club picnic on Aug. 24
- Members will vote for Most Unusual Location to Read Rotary by dropping money in a cup next to each pic.
- Picture with most money in the cup will be the winner.
- All money donated will go to the winner to be donated to their favorite charity. (YES, if you are in the contest, you can do campaigning.)
Sign up for Family Picnic
A sign up sheet will be circulated this week for attending the Annual Picnic on the patio at the Courtyard. Burgers and hotdogs will be supplied. Members are asked to bring a covered dish (vegetable, salad, dessert). It’s a family-thing so be sure to get the whole family on board.
Do you know CRAP?
We have a line item in our budget for Concerned Rotarians Assistance Plan (CRAP). No kidding! Occasionally “crap” happens and a fellow Rotarian needs financial assistance to pay their invoice for whatever reason. The name and situation are known only to the club president and treasurer. Funds can be transferred from the CRAP fund to cover that member’s invoice, all or part of it. If you would like to contribute to the CRAP fund, please notify Treasurer Marie. You can give a specific amount or include extra dollars in your invoice payment. If you find yourself in need of help, please talk with President Stewart. Everything is kept confidential.
Adopt A Park at the Reservoir
Under the direction of Adopt A Park Chair Doris Leach, we will be doing once-a-month trash cleanup at the reservoir on the third Saturday, 9:30 a.m., both up on the trail walk and in the children’s playground area. This is a simple service project. If you want to help, see Doris.
IMPACT Club Chartering!
We’re ready to charter! We have our initial 8 required members but could always use more. Do you know someone who is service minded but can’t attend our regular Rotary meetings? Give their name and contact info to Paul Keely for an invitation to join. Our first 8 members will be inducted at a social on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 5 p.m. at Grain Exchange on STAR campus. Everyone is invited.
And support the IMPACT activity
If your schedule allows, register with Food Bank of Delaware at fdb.org to assist the IMPACT members in their first service project. Tuesday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to noon.
100% Attendance
Only four members received acknowledgment for getting 100% attendance last Rotary year. Every member has the chance to get that recognition this year. Every time you attend a committee meeting, work on a service project, attend a Board meeting, or attend another club’s meeting, pleased let Secretary BJ know and she will give you credit. Let’s make this a 100% attendance year for the whole club!
A Win and a Loss
It was a good night at Citizen’s Bank Park Tuesday night as the Phillies won their first game and lost the second. Either way, Rotary was a winner as we celebrated Strike Out Hunger, with 50% of ticket prices of Rotarians going to The Rotary Foundation to support PolioPlus.
