April 9, 2020  Rotary Connects the World!

The April 9 meeting will be conducted via Zoom. starting at 7 a.m. If you did not get the link number to sign in, please let Robin know. You can join us by computer, Chromebook, tablet, or phone. No eggs will be served!

Paul Keely will review Board actions from last week on how our club can immediately support our community through these times. If you have any suggestions, let him know before the meeting so he can include them.

A brief Board meeting will be held immediately following the regular meeting.

PLEASE NOTE:

All regular Thursday meetings and any committee meetings, along with Discover Rotary night, held at the Courtyard, have been cancelled through April. Upcoming Meetings will be held via Zoom until further notice.

Please note that no members will be charged for meals during the weeks were are shut down. You will receive credit on your next invoice for those we already paid for. [Than you, Shawn, for the extra work!]

In addition, any district events are also cancelled, including RLI and the District Conference. Updates will be passed along as they are announced.

UPCOMING EVENTS (need your participation)

April 18 – Grant Management Seminar will be held on Zoom, 10 am to about noon. You can access this on your home computer. You must register on DaCdb. Instructions will be sent to you a few days before. We need two members from our club to participate. Let Robin know if you need help registering.

June 25 – Annual Installation/Awards Dinner at the Courtyard (hopefully!).

Can you help?

If you know of anyone who has medical supplies (masks, gowns, etc) and can donate them to Christiana Care, please visit this link for a list of items and instructions:       https://christianacare.org/donors/covid/

More than 80 cards and notes of “thinking of you” were written by club members and family members for Mike Luck to deliver for clients of Lori’s Hands. Let’s keep up the goal of 5 per member per week to continue spreading positive messages to our community.

Where did you order take-out this week? Hopefully it was from one of our many advertisers to the Report to the Community. They include: Blue Crab Grille, Caffe Gelato, Daddy O’s, Home Grown, Ole Tapas, Pat’s Pizza and Pasta, and Wings To Go. State Line Liquors would have just the right beverage to compliment that meal! Sorry but the Courtyard is closed, so no crab cakes right now. But Bill S. does have toilet paper if you are in need!!!:)

Award Nominations being accepted

Our club presents awards to Rotarians and non-Rotarians at our annual dinner in June. Please be considering who you would like to nominate for each of these categories. Nomination forms will be coming out shortly.

Ray Civatte Community Service Award: Presented to a non-Rotarian from the community who has given their time and talents to live the Rotary motto of Service Above Self. Do you know someone who volunteers in Newark and really gives their heart and sole to their efforts?

Public Service Award: Presented to a non-Rotarian in the public service sector (fire, police, paramedic) who showed extraordinary dedication to serving our community.

Spirit in Business Award:Presented to a local business that exhibits the Rotary motto of Service Above Self in high ethical standards and values. The business contributes to the Newark community with time, dollar commitment, and/or volunteers.

Vocational Award: Presented to a Rotarian from our club who demonstrated a continues commitment to the Greater Newark Community through his/her vocational skills.

Outstanding invoice?

Do not let your quarterly invoice go unpaid. Either get a check to treasurer Shawn or go to www.NMRDE.org and pay via credit card.

If you want to have your contribution made directly to The Rotary Foundation by credit card (weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annually) and not have it included on your quarterly club invoice, go to www.rotarydirect.org to sign up. Easy…..
