Calling All Members to Help
On Saturday April 15, from 9:45 to noon, we will be joined by UD and Interact students to pack about 10,000 meals for needy families around the world. WE NEED YOUR HELP. About 50 volunteers are needed. Call in family, friends, and potential Rotary members to come and help in a fun and fulfilling service project. Apologies for the short notice but this was literally the only date that fit the students’ schedule, our schedule, the Courtyard’s schedule and Rise Against Hunger was available to come to Newark. Let’s make this a day to remember!!!!!
AD Campaign Coming to a Head!
With the kickoff of the 2023 Report to the Community, we are officially in campaign mode. So far about $30,000 in ads has been sold. At the suggestion of Cindi, your steps should be: 1) craft a contact list, 2) schedule time for phone calls and selling 3) writ down your selling points and have in front of you, 4) set a goal of 8 ad per week, 5) carry copies of the ’22 Report with you and access sell sheets on nmrde.org, 6) sign your letter with a personal note. March 23 is our ad space deadline.
Spending the Flag Money
Nearly in tears three volunteers with Beds 4 Vets accepted a check for $4000 last week. If you were not there, you missed a powerful presentation. We also gave a check for $4000 to Newark PAL president Lt. Greg D’Elia to support their traveling PAL center. We will be sponsoring several of their programs this summer.
Family Games Night for Upside Down Meeting
You never know what will happen at an Upside Down Meeting. Last week’s was Family Game Night but we’re looking at entertainment, service activity, or any other ideas. Clinton plays a mean game of Candyland and Fred’s memory needs to be sharpened! =)
Adopting a Future Playground
Our Board of Directors recently approved our club being sponsors of the soon-to-be-built Old Papermill Road Playground through the city’s Adopt A Park program. When construction is completed later this year, we will schedule regular trash pickup, monitoring of equipment for potential repairs, and reporting any issues we see happening. We got our name in there before another local club!
