April 16, 2020  Rotary Connects the World!

The April 16 meeting will be conducted via Zoom. starting at 7 a.m. If you did not get the link number to sign in, please let Robin know. You can join us by computer, Chromebook, tablet, or phone.

Agenda items will include updates on covid 19 actions by our club: supporting the community, our advertisers, our club members, and raising funds.

Students from Newark Charter who participated in the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) in February will be invited to join us to tell about their experiences.

A brief Board meeting will be held immediately following the regular meeting.

PLEASE NOTE:

All regular Thursday meetings and any committee meetings, along with Discover Rotary night, held at the Courtyard, have been cancelled until further notice. Upcoming Meetings will be held via Zoom.

When participating in a Zoom meeting, please MUTE yourself if there is background noise, phone ringing, or talking that disrupts the meeting speaker. If you have a comment or questions, click the CHAT button at bottom of screen and we can see what you have to say or ask.

Please note that no members will be charged for meals during the weeks we are shut down. You will receive credit on your next invoice for those we already paid for. [Than you, Shawn, for the extra work!]

Happy/Crappy Dollars? We are still accepting them weekly, but you need to keep track of them and pay up when we meet again in person. Remember the Four Way Test???

Newsworthy Items

Need (or want) Rotary apparel or stuff? Paul Keely will be opening a “Company Store” for members to purchase a variety of items with our club logo on them. Twenty percent of the proceeds will go into a club covid19 fund to be used for support of our community.

Please send Bill Sullivan any appropriate photos of our efforts to be posted on the club Facebook page.

UPCOMING EVENTS (need your participation)

April 18 – Grant Management Seminar will be held on Zoom, 10 am to about noon. You can access this on your home computer. You must register on DaCdb. Instructions will be sent to you a few days before. We need two members from our club to participate. Let Robin know if you need help registering.

June 25 – Annual Installation/Awards Dinner at the Courtyard (hopefully!).

Can you help?

If you know of anyone who has medical supplies (masks, gowns, etc) and can donate them to Christiana Care, please visit this link for a list of items and instructions:       https://christianacare.org/donors/covid/

More than 130 cards and notes of “thinking of you” were written by club members and family members for Mike Luck to deliver for clients of Lori’s Hands. Let’s keep up the goal of 5 per member per week to continue spreading positive messages to our community.

Where did you order take-out this week? Hopefully it was from one of our many advertisers to the Report to the Community. They include: Blue Crab Grille, Caffe Gelato, Daddy O’s, Home Grown, Ole Tapas, Pat’s Pizza and Pasta, and Wings To Go. State Line Liquors would have just the right beverage to compliment that meal! Sorry but the Courtyard is closed, so no crab cakes right now. But Bill S. does have toilet paper if you are in need!!!:)

Outstanding invoice?

Do not let your quarterly invoice go unpaid. Either get a check to treasurer Shawn or go to www.NMRDE.org and pay via credit card.

If you want to have your contribution made directly to The Rotary Foundation by credit card (weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annually) and not have it included on your quarterly club invoice, go to www.rotarydirect.org to sign up. Easy…..
