Jan. 31 program:
The best Rotary clubs are ones that are organized. Our President Elect Evelyn Hayes has worked to get our committees functioning and reporting regularly to the club. Here was the first round of reports:
Membership: Paul Keely has assembled a crack team to work on recruiting, retention, and outreach to the other Newark area clubs. A Rotary Discovery Night will be held April 24, 5:30 – 6:30 to introduce prospective members to Rotary.
Foundation: Fred Dawson highlighted how we give to the Rotary Foundation. We are one of the few clubs who reach $100 per capital every year, with every member contributing. Our all time giving to TRF is $241,000.
Fundraising: Cindi Viviano reported we have $17,000 so far in ads sold for the 2019 Report to the Community. Reach out to her for help as needed.
Scholarships: Clinton has led the charge for the last four years in scholarships to James H. Groves Adult High School. In four years we have awarded $30,000.
Administration: Robin reported on the roll out of the new club website. Thank you, Paul K., for the many hours you devoted to this. There are a few items still to be added. The weekly club bulletin will now be available online at https://nmrde.org.

For ONE DAY in February, Valentines Day, Feb. 14, we will hold a food donation contest. Members are asked to bring non-perishables and canned goods to our Feb. 14 meeting. Each member’s donations will be weighed and counted. Prizes will be given for greatest number of items as well as for greatest weight of donations. After the meeting our donations will be taken to Food Bank of Delaware. Simple. Quick and Done. And we can all feel good about our making someone else’s day just a little bit better. Thought for the Week: Lessons learned the hard way:
There comes a time when you should not expect people to make a big deal about your birthday. That comes at age eleven!
