Dec. 13 program:
What a great morning when we can present a check for $1,000 to our speaker, Jane Bowen, Executive Director of Newark Day Nursery and Children’s Center. The center opened in 1961 as the first racially diverse child care center in the area. Today, with the facility on Barksdale Road, they serve nearly 300 children annually, ages 6 mos. to 14 years old, with day care, after-school, and summer camps. More than 50% of the children attending are from low-income families. The center has a 5-Star rating and is fully accredited.

A Message for the Season
Peace will come when people live
In friendship, side by side,
And cherish understanding
More than hatred, greed, and pride.Peace will come when people see
All people as the same,
And no one has to live in fear,
In ignorance or shame.Peace will come when people
Who are needy can reach out
For shelter, food, or love,
And no one has to do without.Peace will come when people
Learn to listen and to care
About the rights and dignity
Of people everywhere.
Peace will come when love and trust
And kindness know rebirth,
And on that day all people
Will rejoice in peace on earth.
