Relocation to Deerfield Golf Club
The 24 members in attendance at the April 2 meeting voted to relocate our meetings to Deerfield Golf Club effective immediately. After 20 years at the Courtyard, we felt the hotel could  no longer meet our requirements nor our expectations. We are excited to begin a new chapter in our club’s history with this change. The staff and management are eager to have us at Deerfield and are willing to work with us during this time of readjustment.
Adopt A Park Cleanup Scheduled
To get more members engaged and be mindful of their schedules, Dan Seador has a monthly signup for trash pickup at the Resevoir, Preston’s Playground, and the new Old Paper Mill Road Park. Each month will have a co-chair who will schedule a team to do the trash pickup, report back to Dan, and take pictures. The signup will be attached in an email to all members. Please reply to Dan.
Dinner and Opening Day at Blue Rocks Game
Want a great  private buffet and attend the opening day at the Blue Rocks but you can’t attend the daytime Saturday Distict Conference? There are tickets available. Bring the family, friends, potential members. Cost $55 ea. Saturday, April 18, 5:15 p.m. Transportation is on you. Ask Robin how to register.

The Nomination committee (Robin, Shawn, and Don) are now accepting nominations for 2nd. vice president in 2026-27 (becoming club president in July 2029). Free Registration to the District Conference!
As co-hosts to the District Conference on April 18, DG Dale has asked our members to be Sergeant At Arms helpers and help with a variety of positions. Robin has the sign up for 11 members to help that day. BONUS! If you sign up to help, and register for the conference, our club will reimburse you the $99 fee. Pay when you register and submit the onfirmation to Clinton for reimbursement. If you want to attend the optional Blue Rocks game, that will be on you. Go to DACdb, log in, District Events and Calendar, scroll to April 18, register for district conference, and get a confirmation.
It’s rare to have the district conference in our backyard and not have to pay hotel costs, so let’s be there and see what our clubs have been doing, hear from inspring speakers, and participate in one of four fun service projects. See Robin if you have any questions.

HELP!
Our ability to serve the community is at a critical point. Profits from the ad sales to the Repoprt To Our Community enable us to distribute dictionaries, pack welcome bags for Camp Fairlee counselors, pack birthday boxes, fight food insecurity, offer leadership programs and scholarships for our youth, and soooo much more. As of last week we have secured enough ads to pay our printing and distribution costs. Now the work really begins. Please make one more push to bring back returning advertiers and secure at least one new ad. See Ed for the updated list of advertisers.

Whoa! We’re way behind in our ad sales. Please contact renewals and find a new advertiser. March 12 is the deadline for reserving ad space in the 2026 Report to the Community. With a goal of $45,000, we need some new advertisers. Check your “rolodex”, hit the phones, and find at least one new advertiser. All forms and info are online at nmrde.org.  FYI, the back inside page is still available!

Who do you know that would make an excellent Rotarian? Doctor, co-worker, friend, accountant, attorney, business owner, veterinarian, golf or pickleball partner, neighbor, or another volunteer. Don’t judge wether or not they are interested or available. Just give their name and contact info to Paul and they will get an invitation to the next Discover Rotary on March 25.
Bio for Report
All members: our bios in the 2026 Report to the Community will be updated to be uniform length and font to fit our 1/8 page spots. Robin will email each of you with a sample. Please respond quickly. Also, if you did not get an updated photo taken, let her know or submit a jpg to her.
Nominations Now Being Accepted
Our club has always been successful in having a long line of succession of leadership. Some clubs do not have a president elect until right before the new Rotary year begins in July. The Nomination committee (Robin, Shawn, and Don) are now accepting nominations for 2nd. vice president in 2026-27 (becoming club president in July 2029). If you want to be considered, please see Robin for more info.

How much have you donated to The Rotary Foundation?

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! We are 27 years old on Wednesday, February 18.
It was 28 years ago that the subject of a new Rotary club was presented to the Newark Club. It was not received well as the “old guard” resisted the idea that there was room for another service organization in Newark. It took another year of persistence but eventually they relented and agreed to be our Morning club’s sponsor. We proved the nay-sayers wrong!
Upcoming Programs
Feb. 19 – Rep. Mara Gorman, District 23 (Newark)
Feb. 26 – Presentation of FFH awards / Board Meeting
March 5 – Rachael Metzger, A Door of Hope
March 12 – Club Assembly
March 19 – Panel of Educators
March 26 – Club Assembly/Packing of Welcome Bags for Camp Fairlee
Upcoming Events
March 5 – 6 p.m. Discover Rotaract ( ELI Hub, 108 E. Main St., Suite 201)

March 25 – Discover Rotary (to be held at Paul Keely’s home)
April 18 – District 7630 Conference, Christiana Hilton
WE STUFFED THAT TRUCK!
We showed that Rotary Has Heart by stuffing Dan’s truck bed, back seat and passenger seat with non-perishables  and personal care items that went directly to First Presbyterian Church’s food pantry. Here’s their response!

On behalf of the Food for Success pantry at First Presbyterian Church, Newark, I want to express my gratitude to you and the Morning Rotary for the bags of food and supplies that were delivered to us last Thursday morning.  We were overwhelmed by the sheer number of bags of food and supplies and the generosity!

We started distributing some of the food last Friday when the pantry was open.  Your donation offers us some diverse products that we do not receive from the Food Bank of Delaware or the USDA, and it is exciting for our clients when they can add “new” products to their shopping bags.

Please share our immense gratitude with the Rotary members and let them know we appreciate their help in addressing food insecurity in our Newark community.

Sincerely,

Francis Kwansa

Congratulations to newest Major Donors
Congratulations to our newest members who achieved the status of Major Donor to The Rotary Foundation. Marie Holliday, Laurie Williams, Paul and Eileen Keely, and Fred Dawson. This level indicates at least $10,000 in donations to TRF over time. Other Major Donors include Robin and Jim Broomall, John Hornor, Tim Boulden, and Evelyn Hayes.
