Program for Aug. 13
JA today is not your father’s JA. In responding to the needs of today’s youth, JA has reinvented itself into programs that are timely, up-to-date with curriculum standards, and are exciting and vibrant. One visit to Biz Town at JA in Wilmington will convince you that learning economics and citizenship can be fun. Last year more than 5,384 students were introduced to Rotary in their preparatory curriculum at school and at their visit to Biz Town. The Rotary Center has been a part of JA/Wilmington since 2005. The students who play the role of Rotarian for the Day help their fellow classmates know the 4 Way Test and how it applies not just in business but in relationships at school and at home. Our club took the lead in making this Rotary Center a reality and has continued to support it financially for more than 10 years.

30-minute makeup

If you missed a meeting, try going online at www.rotaryeclubone.org. At the Rotary e-club, click on "makeups" at top, then select the topic you want to learn about. You must stay on the site for 30 minutes before submitting your info in order for it to count as an official makeup. Enter your info and our secretary will automatically be notified. Try doing it while at lunch, this evening, or whenever you have a chance.

Or here’s another suggestion

If you want to physically visit another club in our district, try Elkton Rotary on Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. They now meet at Pat’s Pizza, 224 S. Bridge Street, Elkton.

Learn more about Rotary

Rotary Leadership Institute will be held at Cecil College in North East, Md. October 17. If you want to attend parts I, II, or III, register at www.rlinews.blogspot.com. Pay online, then give your receipt to Shawn for reimbursement. The program is an all-day session, with lunch included. So it’s basically FREE!!! This is a chance to learn more about different aspects of Rotary and The Foundation. Our club has made this a priority for members, so take advantage of the opportunity.

Thought for the Week:

Not taught in any Science class: Law of the Bath: When the body is fully immersed in water (or in the shower!), the telephone will ring.

Can’t make our meeting?

I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catcher’s mitt on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back.

All Rotarians are welcomed to attend another club’s meeting. Be prepared to pay for your meal and bring the makeup slip back to our secretary for attendance and invoice credit.
